Capital of the departament of Ancash. It is the main city in the Callejón de Huaylas. Most publics and privates offices are located here. For people who like high-altitude sports and outdoors activities it has many facilities, most valley road heads can be reached in a couple of hours drive by private transport or less than a day by public transport.

Climate: The climate of Huaraz and the Cordillera Blanca is tropical not warm. The months of November through the beginning of May is considered the rainy season with temperatures ranging from 20-25 °C centigrade. May through September "Andean Summer" are the best months to visit, but are a little colder (approx. 10-20 °C), but without rain.

GETTING THERE

By air: The airport infrastructure is limited, only there is a small airport to 20 Km. South Huaraz city, it is locatedlocated in Anta village, the flights in general are private and not commercial.

By road: It is the most common way, it has a asphalted road of 404 km from the Lima city, the time that delay an interprovincial bus is 8 hours and an automobile is 6 hours. The price of a passage in interprovincial bus changes in function to the quality of service that the companies give.
